Based in Calgary, Leah loves to spend time exploring the nearby mountains, whether it is through riding, hiking, or XC skiing.

About Leah

Leah is a recently retired World Tour cyclist. Originally from Winnipeg, MB, Leah first started racing at the age of 13 through the Kids of Mud mountain bike program. She balanced competing as a cross-country skier, and strongly believes in the value of pursuing multiple sports to develop well rounded athletes. She pursued an undergraduate degree at Quest University in Squamish, where she focused on nutrition and public health. Leah competed at two Olympics Games, and raced all of the biggest events in cycling, including 10x World Championships, and 3x Commonwealth Games.

My philosophy is to enable individuals to get the best out of themselves in a fun and healthy way through supportive coaching. I strive to consider the athlete holistically, and to create programs that will compliment the other areas of their lives.

Interview

  • Favourite race type and why?

    I love selective road races, as these races suited my all-round abilities as a racer.

  • Favourite post-workout treat or go-to place?

    Smoothie bowls, especially when training in hot weather.

  • Favourite single race?

    Strade Bianche. It is such an epic and demanding race where you finish just completely empty.

  • Favourite sporting moment? (that you experienced)

    Winning the Team Time Trial World Championships with Team Sunweb. We rode a perfect race as a team and were rewarded with the victory. The men’s team also took the victory on the same course on the same day, so it made it feel even more special.

  • Favourite part about coaching with M2M?

    I love the opportunity to draw on all my knowledge and experience from years as an athlete, in order to now help people achieve their personal goals.

  • Most memorable race?

    It was special to be part of the winning team when Coryn Rivera took the victory at the Tour of Flanders in 2017

  • Favourite workout?

    I’m a more explosive rider, so enjoy doing short sprint workouts.

  • Least favourite workout?

    VO2 max intervals, time just seems to stand still!

  • Favourite pre-race meal?

    Oatmeal with peanut butter, banana & maple syrup.

  • Favourite post-race meal?

    I love Thai food if it’s an option.

  • When are you most productive?

    In the morning.

  • Summer or winter?

    Summer, but I do also really love winter activities and hot chocolate.

    Ted Lasso

  • Salty or sweet?

    I have such a sweet tooth.
